JMU's Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Energy provides integrated lending library kits to help educators provide hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom. This session will expose teachers to six different lending library kits focused on measuring, using, and applying wind and solar energy. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore numerous hands-on activities provided in the lending library kits which integrate Math, LA, and Science content. New apparatus will also be utilized to explore the advances of technology. Lending library kits are available to educators free of charge and are helpful in coaching students to participate in KidWind Challenges.
Before we open our baskets, we will discuss the design cycle. We will define our goal for our design challenge, then we will open up our baskets to see the "must-use" ingredients. Other "pantry" items will be available. Participants will make a plan then implement their plan. We will end the session with sharing our projects and selecting the Chopped Champion. No cash prizes just bragging rights.
