About me
Heather is the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher at Hartwood Elementary School in Fredericksburg, Virginia.Prior to accepting the role of ITRT, Heather was a classroom teacher in Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First grade multiage, Second grade, and Third grade for 15 years. She has served as a teacher leader within Hartwood by acquiring technology grants, organizing representation at the annual job fair, and serving as the summer school site coordinator. Additionally, she has served as a teacher leader for the county as a recruiter, instructional curriculum writer, presenter for new teacher welcome week, mentor, cooperating teacher, and liaison for the elementary Instructional Technology Resource teachers to the Department of Instruction. In 2000, Heather obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech. In 2002, she completed her program of studies at Virginia Tech with a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Eland continued her education through the University of Virginia's Math Specialist program and added a K-8 Math Specialist Endorsement in 2010. In 2022, Mrs. Eland completed the Administration and Supervision endorsement through Longwood University.
