Since 2017 Suffolk Public Schools has collaborated with Penn State University to bring the Sea, Air, and Land Competition to Hampton Roads. Drawing from the experience of our team, we would like to spread this incredible STEM event to other districts in Virginia! The Sea Air and Land Challenge introduces students to engineering through the use of robotics. In this semester-long STEM initiative, teams of students work in either classes or after-school groups to design and develop robotic systems that mimic missions encountered by the military and first responders; this could be a submersible to navigate the underwater Sea Challenge, a drone to fly in the Air Challenge, or a land rover to drive in the Land Challenge. On Challenge Day, the students come together to learn about STEM careers and compete. Join us to learn more about the SeAL Challenge and learn how to build this program for your area schools!
