Learn the many ways that Book Creator can support literacy across all contents, from journaling, graphic organizers, digital portfolios, student reflection, and so much more. We will take a deep dive into the basics, updates, templates, and resources available. Time will be allotted for all attendees to create a library and a book for this all-hands-on-deck session.

Fun for all ages and levels and easily scaffolded and modified to fit your classroom needs. There will be a mix of physical and tech related puzzles with curriculum and brain breaks built in! JMU's Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Energy provides integrated lending library kits to help educators provide hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom. This session will expose teachers to six different lending library kits focused on measuring, using, and applying wind and solar energy. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore numerous hands-on activities provided in the lending library kits which integrate Math, LA, and Science content. New apparatus will also be utilized to explore the advances of technology. Lending library kits are available to educators free of charge and are helpful in coaching students to participate in KidWind Challenges.
Before we open our baskets, we will discuss the design cycle. We will define our goal for our design challenge, then we will open up our baskets to see the "must-use" ingredients. Other "pantry" items will be available. Participants will make a plan then implement their plan. We will end the session with sharing our projects and selecting the Chopped Champion. No cash prizes just bragging rights.

Are you ready to join a global community on a mission to make CS equitable and accessible for everyone from early childhood to high school across different cultural, social, and economic contexts? In this session, we will share how the Global Center for Equitable CS Education is addressing this mission through research, professional learning, and tool development in a collaboration between the University of Virginia in the U.S. and Universidad del Norte in Colombia. You will get hands on with the affordable, adaptable, and multilingual educational robotics platform, Roversa while learning strategies for integrating CS into a variety of subject areas and settings. We will also share a variety of ways that you can engage and get involved with this global community.
